3 Days to Primary Election. Tips for Dropping Off Your Ballot or Voting in Person

REMINDER
Drop Off Your Ballot or Go to Polls on August 4th
As of July 31st, 1,960,566 absentee ballots had been requested from Michigan clerk offices. As of this same date, 1,169,910 ballots had been returned. That’s a return rate of 59.2%.
Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson does NOT recommend that voters put their ballots in the mail due to delays in the postal system. It’s been alleged that these delays have been engineered as a means of voter suppression by President Trump’s Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. For more information, click HERE to read an article from Thursday’s Washington Post.
So what if you, your friends or your family haven’t yet voted by absentee? Here are some tips:
- If you have an absentee ballot, complete your ballot (you can vote for only one party in the primary), sign it on the envelope and deliver it to your local clerk. Many clerks now have drop off boxes to receive these ballots. Click HERE for a list of drop box locations. To get the address of your clerk search by your name and address in BallotPower.org
- Detroit doesn’t have drop boxes on this list. Detroiters can take their ballots to a satellite clerk’s office. Click this link for locations: https://detroitmi.gov/departments/elections
- If you didn’t get your absentee ballot, you can still get one at your clerk’s office and turn it in by 8 p.m. on August 4th. You need to complete an application before getting a ballot.
- If none of this works for you, can vote on August 4th up until 8 p.m. To learn where you vote, go to https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/ Search by your name and address or your driver’s license and birth day to find your polling place.
THANKS FOR VOTING!
