Voter’s Guide on Democratic Candidates Stands on Immigration Reform

Democratic Presidential candidates will debate in Detroit on July 30th and 31st. This is an opportunity for Michiganders to express their views at public events and learn more about where the candidates stand on issues.  This email provides information about both these opportunities. During July, UU’s adopted “Actions of Immediate Witness” to work for immigration reform and the Green New Deal.  

Action on Green New Deal, Immigration & LGBTQ Rights

Four events in two days this week in advance of Presidential Debates:

  1. Tuesday, July 30th 4-5:30 p.m. RALLY TO MAKE DETROIT THE ENGINE OF THE GREEN NEW DEAL. Cass Park.  March at 5:30 p.m.
  2. Wednesday, July 31st, 1:30 p.m. IMMIGRATION RALLY & PRESS CONFERENCE.  Rep. Luis Gutierrez with speak at Central United Methodist Church, 23 E. Adams, Detroiton immigrant families in sanctuary and will demand to end the raids. RSVP HERE
  3. Wednesday, July 31st, 4-9 p.m. DEBATE TAKEOVER: IMMIGRANTS DESERVE DIGNITY. Phil Hart Plaza hosted by Movimiento Cosecha and Cosecha Detroit. Demand citizenship & drivers’ licenses. Sign-up for Action: bit.ly/DetroitDebateAction
  4. Wednesday, July 31st, 5-8 p.m. DEMONSTRATE IN FRONT OF THE FOX  THEATER TO DRUM UP SUPPORT FOR THE EQUALITY ACT. Event, supported by the Human Rights Commission, is followed by a debate watching party (8:30 – 11 p.m.) at the Briggs restaurant at 519 E. Jefferson Avenue, Detroit.
